Gingerbread

100 grams butter
1 dl(1/3 cup) dark syrup
1 dl(1/3 cup) sugar
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp orange peel (dry powder, if you use fresh, use only 1/2 tsp)
1 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp allspice
1 egg
1/3 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
5 dl (1 2/3 cup) wheat flour; if you want a crisp cookie, use 1 cup wheat flour, 2/3 cup corn starch, but then you cannot make a house.

Put first 7 ingredients into a pot and bring into boil. Let cool a little, and add the egg. Be sure the mixture isn't too hot, or the egg will boil.

Mix all the remaining ingredients in a large bowl and add the spicy mixture, mix well with a wooden spoon. Let stand overnight in the fridge, or freeze in a plastic bag for a few days.

Bring the dough into room temperature and preheat your oven into 200°C / 375°F. Roll the dough in batches into 2 mm thickness, cut into shapes and bake for about 7 minutes.
