Rolled Cookies Sour Cream

Sour Cream Cookies

1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
5 cups all-purpose flour


Cream butter and sugar.

Add sour cream, and vanilla, mix.

Stir flour soda and salt to mix well.

Add to creamed mixture.

This will be thick, best to use your hands to mix.

Cover and chill for several hours, or overnight.

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Using a portion at a time, roll on floured cloth, to 1/8 inch thick. Cut, using various shaped cutters.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until lightly brown at edges.

Cool, then ice and decorate with plain or colored icing.

Notes: If raw cream is available, that is best. Cultured sour cream will do. This was a County Fair blue ribbon winner for me, sixty years ago. It is still my favorite.
