Makes 5 dozen
2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup butter at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon cream or milk
Preheat oven to 325° F.
Sift flour, baking and salt together into a bowl
Cream button in separate bowl until soft.
Beat in sugar, egg, vanilla, and cream or milk stir into flour mixture.
Add enough flour to make dough stiff enough to roll out.
Refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
Roll dough out on a lightly floured board to 1/8 inch thickness
Cut into desired shapes with a floured cutter or use a press.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, sprinkle with colored sugar and bake for about 10 minutes or until lightly browned on edges.
