Worlds Best Sugar Cookies
2 cups butter (no substitution)
3 cups powdered sugar
2 large eggs, unbeaten
5 cups flour
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar

Note: no liquid. Cream well butter and sugar, add eggs and flavorings. Add dry ingredients and beat until soft and
velvety. Let stand UNCOVERED at room temperature for at least one hour before working with the dough.

Roll out,on a pastry cloth covered surface with a covered or non stick rolling pin, the thinner the better, and cut into
shapes.

Bake at 325 until lightly browned, about 8-10 minutes. Watch carefully, due to the high butter content, they can burn
easily.

Yields about 6 dozen medium sized cookies. Also sprinkle with colored sugars before baking. This recipe is unusual due to the fact that you do not chill the dough.
