Chocolate Pinwheels
1/2 c. oleo
1 1/2 t. vanilla extract
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 t. baking powder
1 egg pinch salt
Filling:
2 c. chocolate chips
2 T. oleo
1/4 t. vanilla extract
pinch salt
Cream butter and sugars. Add egg and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy.
Combine dry ingredients; beat into creamed mixture. Divide dough in half; place each half between two sheets of waxed paper.
Roll into 12x10 inch rectangles. Chill until almost firm, about 30 minutes. In a saucepan over low heat, melt chips and oleo. Add vanilla and salt; mix well.
Spread over dough. Carefully roll up each rectangle into a tight jelly roll; wrap in waxed paper. Chill till firm; about 2 hours.
Cut into 1/8 inch slices with a sharp knife; place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. Yield: about 9 dozen.
