Pantry Pot Roast

1 (2 Pound) boneless beef chuck pot roast
1 TBSP cooking oil
Salt
Pepper
1 (7 to 8 ounce) package mixed dried fruit (not dried fruit bits)
2 cups thin onion wedges
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1 5 1/2 ounces can apple juice


Trim fat from roast. Brown in a Dutch oven in the oil on all sides. Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper. Cut up any large pieces of dried fruit. Place onion wedges and dried fruit in crockpot. Place meat on top of onions and fruit. Sprinkle with allspice. Pour apple juice over meat. Cover and cook on low for 8 -10 hours or high setting 4-5 hours. Makes 6 servings.
