Molly's Swiss Fondue

1 clove garlic
1 cup Neuchatel wine
1/2 lb. shredded Swiss cheese
salt and pepper
1 1/2 Tbl. cornstarch
dash of nutmeg
3 Tbl. Kirsch
French bread


Rub the inside of chafing dish with a cut clove of garlic and discard. Pour in wine and heat. Shake cheese and cornstarch in a paper bag. Very slowly add the cheese to the simmering wine and stir constantly with a wooden spoon, in a figure-eight until cheese is completely melted. Just before serving add Kirsch.
