Ice Cream in a Tin Can
1 c. milk
1 c. whipping cream
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 t. vanilla extract
Nuts or fruit, if desired
Crushed ice
Rock salt
Place all ingredients except crushed ice and rock salt in a 1 lb.coffee can with a tight fitting lid.
Secure lid with masking tape.
Place coffee can in a larger 3 lb. coffee can with a tight fitting lid.
Pack crushed ice around smaller can, sprinkle 3/4 c. rock salt around top. Secure lid .
Roll back and forth for 10 min., check, mix ice cream with spatula, secure lids, roll for 5 more minutes. Add ice as needed.
