Peach Flan Bread Pudding

1/2 cup sugar
1 can peach slices (16-oz.)
6 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 can evaporated milk (13-oz.)
1/2 cup water
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14-oz)
5 slices white bread -- cut into 1/4-inch cubes
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Sweetened whipped cream


Melt sugar in skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until smooth and golden. Quickly pour into a 1-1/2 quart mold. Cool.

Drain peaches, reserving syrup. Arrange peaches in bottom of caramel-lined dish.

Beat eggs lightly in bowl. Beat in vanilla, evaporated milk, water and condensed milk. Stir in bread cubes and pecans. Turn into mold.

Cover with foil and place on rack in large kettle or steamer with hot water under rack. Cover and steam about 45 minutes over low heat. Let stand several minutes, unmold on serving platter. Garnish top with dollops of whipped cream, peach slices and pecan halves, if desired.
