Orange Drop Donuts
from an old Betty Crocker Cookbook

2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp. soft shortening (like Crisco)
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup orange juice
2 Tbsp. grated orange rind


Beat eggs, blend in sugar and shortening. Combine flour, baking pdr. and salt. Put orange rind into the juice. Add flour alternately with the oj to the sugar shortening egg mix.

Drop by small teaspoonfuls into hot fat. 375 degree. Use 2 spoons, dipping them in the fat first to allow dough to slide easily off spoons. Turn to brown evenly. Lift from fat with slotted spoon.

for a Glaze add 1/3 cup boiling water gradually to 1 cup confection sugar. Mix well and dip warm doughnuts into the warm glaze.
