Death by Chocolate

1 box (19.8 oz.) fudge brownie mix
1/4 to 1/2 cup coffee liqueur
3 pkges. (4-serving size ea.) instant chocolate mousse
8 chocolate-covered toffee candy bars (1.4 oz. ea.) (like Skor or Heath bars)
1 large container (12 oz.) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Bake brownies according to package directions; let cool. Prick holes in tops of brownies with a fork and pour coffee liquer over brownies; set aside.

Prepare chocolate mousse according to package directions. Break candy bars into small pieces in a food processor or by gently tapping wrapped bars with a hammer.

Break up half brownies into small pieces and place in bottom of a large glass bowl or trifle dish. Cover with half mousse, then half candy, and then half whipped topping. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.

Note: Instead of coffee liqueur, you may substitute a mixture of 1 tsp. sugar and 4 tablespoons leftover black coffee, or just leave out coffee flavoring entirely.

Serves up to 24 (or 1 serious chocoholic).
