Layered Taco Dip

1 can refried beans
8 oz. cream cheese
8 oz. salsa -- as hot as you like
8 oz. cheddar, shredded
sliced black olives - about 1/2 cup
chopped sweet onion - about 1/2 cup, less if onion isn't very sweet
chopped green pepper - about 1/3 cup
shredded iceberg lettuce - about 1/2 cup (optional)
diced fresh tomatoes (don't peel, but remove seeds and squeeze as much juice from tomatoes)


Spread beans in bottom of 9" pie plate. Soften cream cheese and spread carefully over beans. Top with salsa and then cheddar. Bake in preheated 350 oven for about 20 min., until cheese is bubbly. Top with olives, onion, green pepper, optional lettuce and tomatoes and chill

Serve with taco chips and advise guests to dip down through all layers
