Egg Nog

6 beaten eggs
2 cups milk
1/3 cup sugar
2 to 4 tablespoons light rum
2 to 4 tablespoons bourbon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar
Whipped cream
Ground nutmeg

In a heavy saucepan stir together eggs, milk, and the 1/3 cup sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture coats a metal spoon. Remove from heat. Cool quickly by placing pan in a sink or bowl of ice water and stirring 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in rum, bourbon, and vanilla. Chill 4 to 24 hours.

At serving time, in a medium mixing bowl, whip the cream and the 2 tablespoons sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed till soft peaks form. Transfer chilled egg mixture to a punch bowl fold in whipped-cream mixture. Top each serving with additonal whipped cream; sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve at once. Makes about 10 ( 4 ounce) servings.
