Hot Mulled Wine - heat and serve from crock pot
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
4 cinnamon sticks
18 whole allspice
18 whole cloves
1/4 teas. nutmeg
Peel of 1 lemon
2 bottles (4/5 quart) Burgundy or Claret
In a saucepan combine sugar, water and spices. Heat until sugar dissolves. Drop in lemon peel and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 30 minutes.
Strain to remove the spices.
Combine syrup and wine in crock cooker and cover. Heat on low for 2 hours. Serve in heated
mugs, can garnish with a lemon twist.
