Kahlua or Tia Maria
2 cup water
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated wugar
1/2 cup instant coffee powder
3 cup vodka (for Kahlua)or rum (for Tia Maria)
1/2 vanilla bean, split or 2 Tblsp pure vanilla extract
Combine sugars with water and boil 5 min. Gradually stir in coffee with a wire whip until well blended, cool.
Bour into bottle, add vodka or rum and vanilla. Cover and let stand for at least 2 weeks. Remove vanilla bean if used.
Makes about 40 ozs.
