Armenian Nutmeg Cake

2 cups light brown sugar
2 cups pastry flour or all purpose
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
4 ounces chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 inch square pan.

Blend sugar, flour and butter, cut butter in like pie dough; divide mixture in half. Spread one half in pan, press down a little.

Add egg, nutmeg, soda, salt and sour cream to second half; beat well.

Pour onto mixture in pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and chopped pecans.

Bake 40 minutes without opening oven. Cool in pan.
