Mussels with Linguine

1 pint dry white wine
1 onion -- sliced
3 cloves garlic -- smashed
9 peppercorns -- smashed or ground
1 bay leaf
4 pounds mussel
4 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic -- minced
1 teaspoon oregano
1 pinch crushed red pepper
1 pound linguini


Combine 1st 5 ingredients in large pot. Add mussels, bring to a boil and steam for 23-25 minutes. Drain and save liquor.

Put olive oil in large skillet, add garlic and saute until it begins to turn golden. Add mussel liquor and oregano; cover and simmer for short while until flavors are blended. Add mussels and cook a little longer.

While you are doing this, cook linguine al dente. Drain and put into skillet with mussels and sauce. Toss carefully for 30 seconds. Serve immediately.
