Shrimp Spanish Style

2 lb. large shrimp
2 onions
2 cloves garlic
1/4 c. olive oil
3 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. parsley
8 medium tomatoes
1 c. water
1/4 c. green olives
1/4 tsp. marjoram
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 pinch cayenne
1 dash of salt
1 dash of pepper

Peel shrimp and remove the vein. Wash shrimp and dry with a towel.

In a large frying pan, saute onions and garlic (finely chopped) in olive oil and butter. Cook until they are golden brown. Add chopped parsley and ripe tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped. Cook slowly for 10 minutes. Add the prepared shrimp, water, chopped green olives, marjoram, chili powder, bay leaf, sugar, cayenne, salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes or until the shrimp are pink. Serve hot with toasted French bread.
