Apple: Cinnamon Apples

Cinnamon Apples

5 large apples, cored and coarsly chopped
1/2 cup cinnamon hearts
2 T. sugar (or more to your taste)
Water to cover

Place all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and immediately reduce heat and simmer until apples are tender, stirring a couple of times to distribute the melting red hots. Cool and refrigerate (or serve warm, if you prefer),
