Fried Apple Pies
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1 lb. dried apples
Mix flour, baking powder, shortening, milk and salt. Roll very thin and let stand for 30 minutes. Cut circles using a saucer as a guide.
Cook 1 pound dried apples until mushy stage. Place 1 tablespoon of apples in each cut out circle; moisten edges with milk and seal well with fork, pressing firmly (but do not pierce dough).
Deep fat fry until brown. Drain well on paper towel.
