4 large Granny Smith apples
2 Tbsp. water or apple juice, pineapple juice or white wine
1/4 cup brown sugar (do not pack)
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of allspice
Peel and core apples and cut into sixths. Combine liquid, sugar and spices.
Place apples in an 8x8" micowavable glass dish and pour liquid over apples. Cover with plastic wrap; piercing 6 times with a fork.
Cook on high for 3 minutes; stir. Cook 3 minutes more; let stand 1 minute.
Mash to desired consistency with a fork.
Makes 2-1/4 cups.
Serve at desired temperature.
