Apple Mince Crisp

4 cups green or cooking apples, peeled and sliced
1 1/2 cups mincemeat
1/3 cup Sauterne
1 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. salt
8 Tbsp. (1/2 cup) softened butter

Preheat oven to 350° F and grease a shallow baking dish.

Spread half the apples on the bottom of a greased shallow baking dish. Spread mincemeat over the apples. Pour Sauterne over remaining apples; spread on top of mincemeat.

In a bowl mix together light brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, mace and salt. Mix in soft butter until crumble. Spread this evenly over the top. Pat down.

Bake in preheated 350 oven about 1 hour or until apples are tender. Serve warm with hard sauce or sweetened whipped cream.

Serves 6.
