Spiced Holiday Cinnamon Apple Rings

4 large cooking apples
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups water
2 cinnamon sticks or ½ cup red cinnamon candy


Wash and peel apples. Core. Cut each apple into 1/2-inch-thick slices.

Combine sugar, water, candy in large skillet. Stir until sugar dissolves. Arrange apple ring in syrup. Cool about 6 minutes. Remove apples and use as a garnish.
