Lemon Pound Cake 
1 cup butter or oleo, softened 
1/2 cup shortening 
3 cups sugar 
5 eggs 
3 cups all-purpose flour 
1 teaspoon salt 
1/2 teaspoon baking powder 
1 cup milk 
1 tablespoon lemon extract 
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel 
Glaze: 
1 to 1 1/4 cup powdered sugar 
1/4 cup butter or oleo, softened 
2 tablespoons lemon juice 
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel 
 
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a fluted tube pan.
In a large bowl, cream butter, shortening, and sugar til light and fluffy.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.  
Combine flour, salt and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.  
Mix well after each addition.  
Add lemon extract and lemon peel.  
Mix on low speed til blended.  
Pour into a greased fluted tube pan. 
Bake at 350 degrees for 70 minutes or until cake tests done.  
Turn out onto a rack to cool. 
For glaze, combine all ingredients and drizzle over cooled cake
