French Peach Pie

1/2 recipe plain pastry
3 1/2 cups sliced fresh peaches (about 8 medium)
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 egg slightly beaten
1 cup heavy sweet cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup shredded almonds

Preheat oven to 450. Line 9 inch pan with plain pastry and fill with sliced peaches.

Combine sugar and flour. Add egg and cream and mix well. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over peaches. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and bake until done about 35 minutes longer. Serve cold.
