Shampoo

2 oz liquid castille soap
3 oz flower water
1/2 oz jojoba oil
1/2 oz vegetable glycerine
1/4 tsp grapefruit seed extract
6-10 drops non-irritating essential oil if you want


Rinse: I mix 1 cup of cider vinegar with 3 cups of hot water to make a warm rinse. dump through hair then rinse with water in shower.




1 oz dried soapwort root
2 1/2 cups boiling water
1 oz dried herbs and/or flowers


Pour the boiling water on the broken up roots, cover, and leave to soak for 12 hours or overnight. Pour the root and the water into an enamel (stainless steel would probably work too) pan, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, add the dried hearbs and/or flowers, stir, cover, and leave to cool. Strain into a jug, and use for one hair wash.




Herbal Shampoo

4 oz Soapwort chips
1 pint distilled water
Essential oil(s)


Simmer soapwort in water until liquid is reduced by half. Allow to cool and filter. Add a few drops of essential oil. Bottle and use as regular shampoo - Low lather level. Keep in refrigerator.



Shampoo Base from Soap

4 ounces Pure white castile soap
1 quart spring or distilled water


Finely grate the the soap. Bring the water to a simmer and add the soap. Bring this to a boil until the soap has all dissolved. Pour into a jar and store until needed. To this base add various oils, herbal infusions and Essential Oils to create the shampoo best suited to your needs. Follow with a vinegar and water rinse or a conditioner and rinse well.
