1 first cut brisket
seasoned salt, pepper and garlic salt, to taste
1 large onion, sliced and separated into rings
1 bottle cooking sherry (such as Rees or Holland House)
potatoes and carrots, optional
kishke, optional
Season the brisket with seasoned salt, pepper and garlic powder. Put it in a roasting pan on top of one large onion that has been sliced and separated into rings. Bake it uncovered for one hour at 400 degrees.
Then add cooking sherry, cover the pan and continue baking for 3 hours. If you like, you can add potatoes and carrots after the first hour. You can throw a kishke in after the first hour also.
