Debbie's Speech Class Lasagna
Tomato Sauce:
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck or sweet Italian sausage or combination of both
2 16-oz cans tomatoes, roughly chopped, undrained
1 16-oz can tomato puree
1 16-oz can tomato sauce
1 12 oz can tomato paste
2 bay leaves
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp sugar
1 large onion, chopped
salt & pepper
Remaining Ingredients:
1 pound package lasagna noodles
1 large container cottage cheese
2 c. mozzarella
2 eggs
1/4 c. Parmesan
1 tsp oregano
Brown ground chuck in a large Dutch oven; drain. Add remaining tomato sauce ingredientsCook slowly for 6-10 hours, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaves.
Cook and drain lasagna noodles. Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl.
Cover bottom of lasagna pan with sauce. Layer noodles, cheese mixture and tomato/meat mixture 3 times. Sprinkle top with Parmesan. Bake at 350* for 40-45 minutes, until bubbly. Let stand 5-10 minutes before cutting.
