Dolmathes (Stuffed Grape Leaves)
1 (16 oz.) jar grape leaves
1 large can of beef or chicken broth
1 1/2 lb. Ground beef or ground lamb
2 large onions, grated
1 cup long grain rice
3 /4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
3 tablespoons chopped parsely
2 tablespoons crushed mint leaves
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 (14 1/2 oz.)can crushed tomatoes
Drain grape leaves. Rinse well with cold water and set aside.
Combine all ingredients except grape leaves and broth, in a large bowl and mix well.
With the shiny side of the leaf on the outside place l tsp. filling on each leaf at the stem end of the leaf and roll up tightly.
Place rolled grape leaves in a large pot.
Pour in broth. Place a heavy plate over the rolls and cook over low heat for 45 to 60 minutes.
