Indonesian Kabobs with Peanut Sauce

1 1/2 lb. flank steak strips, chicken breast strips and/or cleaned shrimp
Assorted vegetables, cut in bite-size pieces
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup chunky peanut butter
3 tbsp. peanut oil
4 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper


Skewer meat, chicken and/or shrimp. Place in a single layer in shallow casserole. Process remaining ingredients in blender or food processor until smooth.

Reserve 1/3 cup marinade for dipping sauce. Pour remainder over kabobs, turning to coat evenly. Refrigerate, covered, at least 30 minutes.

Broil or grill 8 to 10 minutes or until desired doneness. Serve with reserved marinade.

Makes 6 servings.
