Lillian Hellman’s Pot Roast

4 lb. Roast
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 soup can red wine
1 soup can water
1 crushed bay leaf
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thyme


Put it in an oven proof pot with a lid. Mix together remaining ingredients. Pour over meat in pan. Cover and bake in 350 degree oven for 3 1/2 hours.
