Dill-Sauced Meat Loaf

1-1/2 lb. meat-loaf mixture (ground beef and pork)
1 medium-size onion, chopped (1/2 c)
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs (1 slice)
1/2 cup bottled dill-pickle juice
1 egg
1-1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup chopped dill pickle
1/2 cup catsup
1/4 cup water
2 Tbl. sugar
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Mix meat-loaf mixture lightly with onion, bread crumbs, dill-pickle juice, egg, salt, and pepper until well-blended. Shape into a loaf in a shallow baking pan.

Combine dill pickle, catsup, water, sugar, and Worcestershire sauce; pour over loaf.

Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F.), basting twice with sauce in pan, 40 minutes. Continue baking, without basting, 35 minutes longer, or until richly glazed.

Makes 6 servings
