Salisbury Steak and Peppers
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 envelope onion soup mix,
1 egg
1/4 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs
2 Tblsp. flour
1-1/2 cups water
1 large green pepper, chopped up fine
1 small onion, diced up fine
Mix well the beef, soup mix, egg, bread crumbs, green pepper and onion. Shape in 4 oval patties. Fry the patties until brown on each side with a little oil and then drain off the grease. Put back into the skillet and pour brown gravy over the patties and put in oven, covered, at 350 for about 25 minutes.
Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans. Make sure to have lots of gravy to serve.
Salisbury Steak with Onion Mushroom Gravy

1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1/4 c. beef gravy (jarred or homemade)
1 egg
1/2 c. bread crumbs
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1/4 t. onion powder
Gravy:
1 small onion, sliced thin
1/2 lb. Fresh mushrooms, sliced
10 oz. Beef gravy (remainder from jar or homemade
1/4 c. water
Mix well. Shape into 6 oval patties.
Spray a large skillet with: non-stick cooking spray Brown patties over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each
side. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
In the same skillet, add onion and mushrooms. Saute until tender. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer for 1 minute.
Return beef patties to skillet. Cover and cook another 10 minutes, or until beef is cooked to desired doneness.
Note: for additional gravy to serve over mashed potatoes, add an additional 1-2 cups of beef gravy.
