Salisbury Steak with Peppers

1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 envelope onion soup mix, divided
1 egg
1/4 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs
2 Tblsp. flour
1-1/2 cups water
1 large green pepper, chopped up fine
1 small onion, diced up fine


Mix well the beef, soup mix, egg, bread crumbs, green pepper and onion. Shape in 4 oval patties. Fry the patties until brown on each side with a little oil and then drain off the grease. Put back into the skillet and pour brown gravy over the patties and put in oven, covered, at 350 for about 25 minutes. Serve with
mashed potatoes and green beans. Make sure to have lots of gravy to serve.
