Beef Sandwich: Gyros

Gyros

1 lb. sirloin steak, cut into 4 x 5-inch strips, 1/4-inch thick
3/4 cup dry red wine
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 small garlic, diced
1/2 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Cucumber Sauce (Topping):
1/2 container plain yogurt (about 4 ounces)
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cucumber, chopped
1/2 small onion, diced
salt and pepper to taste


Combine wine, olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper. Marinate steak in wine mixture 24 hours. Before
cooking, drain wine. Fry steak in 2 tablespoons butter. Warm pita bread in oven, cut in half, split open and fill with meat, tomatoes, onions and lettuce. Pour on sauce
