Spaghetti Sauce Italiano

1/2 lb. bulk Italian sausage
1/4 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
2 tbsp. quick cooking tapioca
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. dried Italian seasoning, crushed
1/8 tsp. pepper
dash of salt
Hot cooked spaghetti


Brown the meats, onion and garlic in a skillet. When meat is brown and onion is tender, drain.

In a 3 1/2 or 4 quart crock pot, combine tomatoes with juice and all remaining ingredients except spaghetti Add meat mixture, stir well. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or high for 4 to 5 hours.

Discard bay leaf and serve over hot noodles.

Makes 4 to 5 servings.
