Pork Chops with Almond Stuffing

4 loin pork chops (1 1/2 lb)
3 cups soft bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
3 tbsp. chopped apple
2 tbsp. chopped celery
1/4 tsp. sage
6 tbsp. slivered almonds, roasted
1/4 cup melted butter or margarine
3/4 cup water
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed cream of chicken soup


Brown pork chops and place in shallow baking dish.

Combine bread cubes, onion, apple, celery, sage, and 1/4 cup almonds. Add melted butter and toss lightly. Add 1/4 cup water to moisten. Form a mound of dressing on each chop.

Combine soup with remaining 1/2 cup water and pour over chops and dressing. Bake 350 for 1 hour. Sprinkle each with some of the remaining almonds. 4 servings.
