I just lost my brother this afternoon to melenoma (sp?) and I would like
to post his favorite pie recipe:
SOUR CREAM RAISIN PIE
1 9" baked pie crust
1 cp raisins with water enough to cover
2/3 cp sugar
3 Tblsp cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cp sour cream
3 egg yolks
1/2 cp milk
1/2 cp water drained off raisins
1/2 cp nuts, chopped, optional
Place raisins in small pan; add water to cover and bring to boil. Remove
from heat and let stand while preparing filling.
In heavy pan mix sugar, cornstarch, salt, and spices. Add sour cream and
stir well. Beat in egg yolks and stir in milk. Cook on medium heat, stirrin.
Bring to boil and cook until thickened. Remove from heat. Drain raisins,
reserving 1/2 cp of water. Stir this into the pudding mixture along with
raisins and nuts and pour into prepared pie shell.
Top with merangue consisting of:
3 egg whites
5 Tblsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
Bake in 400 degree oven about 10 min or until golden brown. Allow to cool
away from drafts.
PLEASE EVERYONE..........if you find a lump or an odd shaped mole have it
looked at immediatly. Thank you
