Nut Triangles

Pastry:
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 egg yolks, lightly beaten
1/3 cup water

Filling:
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Dash nutmeg
Dash ground cloves
1 egg white
1 tablespoon water

To prepare pastry, in medium bowl, combine 1 cup of the flour and brown sugar. Using pastry blender, or two knives used in scissor-fashion, cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In small bowl, combine egg yolks and water. Stir in remaining 1/2 cup flour until smooth. Stir into flour-butter mixture until blended. Cover and chill 3 hours or until firm.

Meanwhile, prepare filling. In a small bowl, stir together walnuts, pecans, brown sugar, flour, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Cover and set aside.

Preheat oven to 375°F. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. On lightly floured surface with lightly floured rolling pin, roll each piece into a 4-1/2 inch circle.

Place 1 tablespoon of filling in center of one piece. Roll 3 sides of circle up and in towards center until ends meet, forming a small triangle. Pinch corners firmly together. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
Place on ungreased baking sheets. In a small cup combine egg white with water and brush over cookies.

Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack.
