French Apple Cream Pie

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
6 to 7 tablespoons cold water
1 (1-pound 5 ounce) can apple pie filling
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese
1/4 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 425.

Pastry: Combine flour and salt in mixing bowl, cut in shortening until mixture is fine. Sprinkle water over mixture, tossing lightly with fork until dough holds together. Divide in half. Flatten one part of dough to 1/2 inch thickness; smooth edges. Roll out on floured board to circle 1 1/2 inch larger than inverted 9 inch pie pan. Fit dough loosely into pan.

Combine pie filling with spices and lemon rind. Spoon into prepared pan.

Combine remaining ingredients; beat until smooth. Pour over apples.

Roll out remaining dough - fit over pie and form decorative edge. Cut slits in top for steam to escape. Sprinkle with additional sugar.

Bake at 425 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool
