Pecan Pie

1 pecan pie crust
1/2 cup pecan halves
1/2 cup chopped pecans
3 Tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1 cup dark corn syrup
1/8 tsp salt


Cream together the butter and vanilla until butter is softened. Gradually add the sugar, creaming until fluffy after each addition. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add in the chopped pecans, corn syrup and salt, mixing very well. Pour into the pie shell.

Bake at 450o for 10 minutes. Arrange the pecans halves on top of the pie filling. Reduce the heat to 350o and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a knife inserted halfway between the center and the edge comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
