Polish Heritage Cookery (Strybel, 1993)
Krajanka Czekoladowa (Polish Brownies)
1/4 cup butter, room temp.
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, grated finely
1 cup flour
1 1/3 cup chopped, unblanched almonds
Preheat oven to 350° F. and grease a narrow loafpan.
Cream butter and add sugar, eggs, and chocolate.
Sift in flour, add almonds, and mix to blend ingredients with a wooden spoon or spatula.
Transfer mixture to a greased narrow loafpan and bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes. Remove from pan when still somewhat warm and slice. Arrange slices on ungreased baking sheet and dry on both sides in 250 degree oven for 15-20 minutes.
