Kielbasa and Kraut

2 large onions, chopped
oil for sauting
2 lbs. kraut
2 1/4 cups water
1 lb kielbasa, sliced
1 tsp. cumin powder
salt and pepper, to taste


Brown onions in oil. Add kraut and more oil as needed; fry until flavors combine and kraut collapses, noy necessary to brown.  Add water, kielbasa, cumin, and salt and pepper.

Cover the pot and simmer 45-60 minutes over medium-low heat, cooking until most of the liquid is absorbed, but not all.  Leave moist enough to serve over noodles or cubed, boiled potatoes.
