24 Hour Bread and Butter Pickles

3 cucumbers, scrubbed and sliced thin
2 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
1/2 sweet onion, thinly sliced
1 cup white sugar
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 tsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. kosher salt

Pack cucumbers, garlic and onion in clean quart jars. Combine remaining ingredients in sauce and bring to a hard, rolling boil. Pour this boiling mixture over the cucumbers and cover jar. Refrigerate at least 24 hrs. before serving. Lasts up to 6 months or longer.
