North Woods House Dressing
Up north in Minnesota, diners at Ruttger's Sugar Lake Lodge near Grand Rapids savor the
creamy-sweet house dressing. Ruttger's serves the dressing over mixed greens, and garnishes its salads with fresh tomato, black olives and pepperoncini (pickled peppers).
3 cups mayonnaise
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
6 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt
In a large bowl, stir together all the ingredients till smooth. Cover and refrigerate the dressing till serving time or up to 7 days. Makes about 4 cups.
