Poppy Seed Salad Dressing

2/3 cup white distilled vinegar
2 tsp. finely grated onion
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 tsp. salt
2 cup vegetable oil
3 tbsp. poppy seeds


Combine the vinegar, onion, sugar, mustard and salt in a bowl. Stir vigorously with a wire whisk until sugar, mustard and salt are dissolved. Continue whisking while pouring in the oil in a slow, thin stream. Continue beating until the dressing is smooth and thick. Stir in the poppy seeds, then taste and adjust seasonings as desired.

Maybe be tightly covered and refrigerated for 6 to 10 days.

Poppy Seed Dressing

3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. finely chopped green onion
1 cup vegetable oil
1 tbsp. poppy seeds


Combine the first 5 ingredients in a blender and process until well mixed. Turn blender on high, gradually add the oil in a slow, steady stream. Stir in poppy seeds. Cover and chill.

Makes 2 cups.

Poppy Seed Dressing

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 cup oil (Wesson preferrred)
1 small grated onion
1/8 cup poppy seeds
1 - 2 drops red food coloring


Beat first 4 ingredients in a blender or with a mixer. Add remaining ingredients, stir and chill.

Makes 1 quart.
