New Netherlands Cole Slaw

This recipe from the Betty Crocker Cookbook called
New Netherlands Cole Slaw

1/4 cup mild vinegar 
1 Tbsp. sugar 
1 tea. salt 
1/4 tea. pepper 
1/2 tea. mustard 
1 Tbsp. butter 
1 egg, slightly beaten 
2 Tbsp. cream 
3 cups finely shredded cabbage 


Heat to boiling in saucepan the vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, mustard and
butter. 

Add some of hot mixture to the slightly beaten egg and then stir 
into the hot vinegar in saucepan.   Cook until mixture thickens and boils.

Remove from heat and beat in the cream.  Pour while hot over the shredded cabbage. 

Chill, and serve cold.

Serves 6.
