  GYROS
  
  1 lb. ground lamb 
  1/2 cup chopped onion 
  2 tsp. minced garlic 
  3/4 tsp. salt 
  1/2 tsp. dried marjoram,  crumbled 
  1/2 tsp. dried rosemary,   crumbled 
  1/8 tsp. black pepper 
  4 (7") pita bread, cut in half -shredded lettuce 
  1 large tomato, chopped 

  Cucumber Mint Sauce: 
  1 cup plain yogurt 
  1 cup sour cream 
  1 medium cucumber, seeded,  chopped 
  1/4 tsp. dried leaf mint,  crumbled 
  1/2 tsp. salt 
  1/8 tsp. black pepper 
  Amount: 8 sandwiches 

  Lite 
  1 lb. extra lean ground turkey  breast 
  1/2 cup chopped onion 
  2 tsp. minced garlic 
  3/4 tsp. salt 
  1/2 tsp. dried marjoram, crumbled 
  1/2 tsp. dried rosemary,  crumbled 
  1/8 tsp. black pepper 
  4 (7") pita bread, cut in half -shredded lettuce 
  1 large tomato, chopped 

  Cucumber Mint Sauce: 
  1 cup non-fat plain yogurt 
  1 cup sour cream 
  1 medium cucumber, seeded,  chopped 
  1/4 tsp. dried leaf mint, crumbled 
  1/2 tsp. salt 
  -dash black pepper 
  Amount: 8 sandwiches 

Revised Recipe: 

In 2 qt. microwavable casserole, combine first 8 ingredients.  Microwave on (HIGH) stirring once, until turkey is no longer pink (about 5 min.); drain.

Spoon hot meat mixture into each opened pita half.  
  
Combine Cucumber Mint Sauce; spoon over meat. 

Top with lettuce, tomatoes and additional sauce.

Serve immediately.
