Monte Cristo Sandwiches

6 slices thick Texas Toast Bread
6 ounces sliced ham
6 ounces sliced turkey
6 ounces sliced Swiss Cheese
2 cup french toast batter (egg, milk and cinnamon)
garnish with powdered sugar

Dip for Sandwiches:
1/2 cup strawberries, fresh and chopped
1 cup sour cream
1/3 cup sugar

Preheat oven to 375° F.

Heat skillet or pan and spray with non stick spray. Dont use butter as it will be soggier and you want a crispier coating.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set beside the skillet.

Dip only one side of 4 slices of bread and place in the skillet. Divide the cheese evenly. On two slices of the bread place 1 1/2 ounces of cheese and 1 1/2 ounces of ham. On the other two pieces of bread place 1 1/2 ounces of cheese and 1 1/2 ounces of turkey.

When the bread is golden brown place on the baking sheet and top two pieces with the third piece of bread. Place in the oven for approx. 8 minutes at 375. Watch so it doesn't get too brown. When it is done take it out and put top half over the top of the second piece of Texas toast. You will have a triple decker sandwich. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Makes two sandwiches. Cut into 4ths.

While the sandwich is in the oven, place strawberries in food processor and chop down to small diced pieces. You don't want it pureed, you want the small diced look. Place in a bowl and add sour cream and sugar; taste. If it isn't sweet like jelly, add more sugar.
