Microwaved Chestnuts
Score nut, then place in a damp paper towel and cook on HIGH about 20 seconds.
This cooking time is for the colossal chestnut, which is much larger than
the original Chinese chestnut. Vary cooking time accordingly.
Grilled Chestnuts
To cook chestnuts under a grill, make a cut in the outside leathery shell first, then place under a moderate grill. Turn
about 10 minutes later. After they have blackened slightly, take chestnuts out of grill. Wrap in a towel for about 5
minutes. Then unwrap and peel.
Baked Chestnuts
Score an “X” cut on the bottom of each chestnut and soak in water for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Bake in oven for about 20 minutes at 350 °F.
